Equipment

  • Tape (to create a hexagon shape on the court surface)

How to run it

Using tape, mark out the shape of a hexagon on the court. The player stands in the center of this hexagon with both feet. While maintaining a forward-facing orientation throughout the drill, the player jumps with both feet over each line of the hexagon and then immediately jumps back to the center. This pattern is repeated, moving around all six sides of the hexagon, as quickly as possible.

Coach Dave’s cues

Increasing the size of the hexagon will proportionally increase the difficulty of the drill. Stay on the balls of the feet to maximize agility. Focus on making quick, explosive movements for each jump.

Watch for

Losing balance during the jumps or landings. Failing to maintain the forward-facing orientation, thus not simulating kitchen line posture. Exhibiting slow transitions between the jumps over different sides of the hexagon.
